On September 23 at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), The KingDom made their highly anticipated comeback with the release of their special album ‘The KingDom: the flower of the moon.’ The group later released a special performance video on their official YouTube channel.
The album features the title track ‘화월가’ (Last Flower), a stunning fusion of Miryang Arirang and K-pop that highlights The KingDom’s unique musical style. The track masterfully blends traditional Korean instruments, such as the gayageum, daegeum, kkwaenggwari, and haegeum, with orchestral sounds and the group’s powerful vocals, creating a song that can confidently be presented to the world as a Korean-style K-pop masterpiece.
Alongside the title track, the album includes other engaging songs that contribute to the group’s evolving musical narrative. ‘Festival’ is a funky, driving track with a cheerful rhythm and uplifting lyrics that listeners can easily enjoy. Meanwhile, ‘Forget’ serves as a heartfelt tribute to fans. The members penned their own lyrics for this song, delivering messages they personally wanted to share with their audience. It also includes ‘Last Flower (Instrumental),’ a version that beautifully showcases the richness of Korean traditional instruments.
This album marks The KingDom’s comeback after nearly a year and a half, following their eighth EP, ‘Realize,’ which was released in April last year. It features only five of the six members, as leader Dann was unexpectedly summoned for his mandatory military service while preparing for the album release.
