On May 2, Epik High’s TABLO and BTS’ RM dropped ‘Stop the Rain’, an emotional single with poetic storytelling.
Written and composed two years ago, prior to RM’s enlistment, the song explores themes of hidden pain, silent struggles, and quiet resilience. TABLO’s deep-toned rapping and RM’s restrained yet piercing delivery mirror the emotional solitude of standing alone at a rain-drenched window with unspoken feelings.
The animated music video intensifies this emotional landscape, portraying a young boy who represents repressed sorrow, hiding in the dark before stepping into the rain. Wings sprout from his back only to dissolve as he falls like Icarus, symbolizing both the courage to feel and the inevitability of vulnerability. The retro visuals, flowing calligraphy lyrics, and overlapping vocals blend seamlessly, creating an immersive, melancholic narrative.
‘Stop the Rain’ marks the duo’s reunion since ‘All Day’ from RM’s solo album ‘Indigo’ in 2022, once again highlighting the pair’s unique creative synergy.
