Sunmi Releases Digital Single ‘BLUE!’

Sunmi officially returns with new music!

On August 26 at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), Sunmi released her new digital single, ‘BLUE!’. This marks her first comeback in over a year since her previous single ‘Balloon in Love’,which was released in June 2024.

‘BLUE!’ combines a band sound with synth-pop and alternative rock textures, paired with Sunmi’s soulful vocals and unique style. The lyrics use the dual meaning of blue to express the mixed emotions of youth’s heart-fluttering feelings, hope, sadness, and freedom.

The music video presents Sunmi with short blonde hair and black nails, embracing a punk-inspired style that sets ‘BLUE!’ apart from her previous work. It begins with the question, “What would you do if your boyfriend becomes a cockroach?” and goes on to portray the imperfect emotions of youth through her own lens, blending humor with meaningful cinematic shots.

This track reflects Sunmi’s identity not only as a singer but also as a songwriter, as she directly participated in the lyrics, composition, and production.

With ‘BLUE!’, Sunmi continues to evolve as an artist while staying true to her bold creative identity.
