Addressing the controversy, the agency has firmly denied the accusations, calling them entirely baseless. Their statement reads as follows:
Hello.
This is STARSHIP Entertainment.
We would like to provide information regarding the departure of member Park Jun Hwan from “Debut’s Plan.”
The rumors about Park Jun Hwan currently circulating online are completely false.
Through his entire academic record and statements from school officials, we have clearly confirmed that Park Jun Hwan is a diligent and responsible student.
In addition, we have confirmed that fictitious accounts pretending to be his acquaintances were active in anonymous open chat rooms and online communities, and we have secured objective evidence proving these accounts were run by impersonators.
However, due to the baseless rumors, malicious slander, and continuous abusive comments, Park Jun Hwan, who is still a minor, has been experiencing significant psychological distress.
Recently, the situation has worsened to the point where it is severely affecting his daily life.
Despite our efforts to support his psychological recovery through consultations with professional medical staff, he has expressed a sincere desire to step away from group activities.
In respect of his wishes, we have decided to give him sufficient time to rest.
We will continue to fully support Park Jun Hwan so that he may regain his health and take steps toward a new dream outside of IDID.
Meanwhile, we plan to take legal action against the initial distributors and those involved in spreading malicious comments, false information, and sexually harassing remarks about a minor. This will be pursued under Articles 44-7(1)(1) to (2), 70, and 74 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection as well as the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse.
Sexual harassment and defamation of minors online are serious crimes, and we will not tolerate such actions.
We sincerely apologize to fans for the concern this may have caused and promise to do our utmost to protect the rights and dignity of our artists.
Although he did not make his debut, we kindly ask for your understanding of Park Jun Hwan’s decision.
We hope you will continue to send him warm encouragement and interest.
Along with the statement, the agency also released a handwritten apology letter from the individual behind the rumors. In the letter, the person admitted to spreading unverified information online and on social media, acknowledging the significant harm caused to Park Jun Hwan’s image and reputation.
A finalist of STARSHIP’s survival show ‘Debut’s Plan,’ Park Jun Hwan was set to debut with IDID in late 2025.
