SHINee is set to ring in their 17th debut anniversary with a special single album.
On May 19, SHINee released a trailer and details for their upcoming release, ‘Poet | Artist’. Titled ‘Fluffy SHINee’, the trailer features five plush dolls representing each group member, including the late Jonghyun. The single album features two songs: the title track ‘Poet | Artist’ and the B-side ‘Starlight’.

‘Poet | Artist’ is an electro-pop song that blends a vocal riff-driven melody with punchy snare beats and a subtle reggae rhythm, creating a harmonious and dynamic soundscape. What makes the song meaningful is that Jonghyun participated in both the lyrics and composition. The lyrics convey a message of breaking barriers and creating new things together while embracing creativity, encouraging people to think like poets and artists, using imagination in art and in daily life.
In a touching tribute, ‘Poet | Artist’ shares its title with Jonghyun’s final solo album, which was released posthumously in January 2018.
As part of their 17th anniversary celebrations, SHINee will also host SHINee WEEK from May 18 to 22, streaming their first five concerts on their official YouTube channel. This will be followed by the ‘SHINee WORLD VII [E.S.S.A.Y] (Every Stage Shines Around You)’ concert, which will be held from May 23 to 25 at the KSPO DOME in Seoul.
‘Poet | Artist’ marks SHINee’s first comeback in almost two years since the release of their 8th studio album, ‘HARD’, in June 2023.
‘Poet | Artist’ is scheduled to drop on May 25 at midnight KST (May 24, 8:30 PM IST), coinciding with the group’s 17th anniversary. A physical album will also be released on May 26.
