SEVENTEEN continues to make waves globally with the outstanding success of their fifth full-length album, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY.’ The group’s popularity in Japan has reached new heights, as reflected in their remarkable performance on the Oricon Mid-Year Charts for 2025.
As per the rankings announced on June 25, which tracked sales from December 9, 2024, to June 8, 2025, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ claimed the No. 2 spot on the Combined Album Chart and No. 3 on the Album Sales Chart. These are the highest placements secured by any non-Japanese artist during this period, once again highlighting SEVENTEEN’s strong presence in the international music scene.
The album, along with its lead track ‘THUNDER’, released on May 26, 2025, received a strong response in Japan upon release, topping Oricon’s Daily Album Chart on day one and quickly dominating the Weekly Album Sales and Combined Charts. Within just five days, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ surpassed 500,000 units shipped in Japan, earning Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
SEVENTEEN’s achievements don’t stop there. Their fourth Japanese single, ‘Shohikigen (消費期限 / Expiration Date),’ released in November 2024, continues to perform well. It secured a spot on Oricon’s Mid-Year Singles Chart and recently topped Billboard Japan’s Single Sales category for the same period.
In addition to their musical success, the group is expanding their presence in Japanese media. SEVENTEEN is participating in a Korea–Japan joint production drama titled ‘Hatsukoi DOGS (初恋DOGs),’ which will premiere on Japan’s TBS network on July 1. The group also sings the show’s theme song, ‘Where Love Passed (愛が通り過ぎた跡),’ written and composed by member Woozi, offering fans a heartfelt musical experience.
With chart-topping releases and new cross-cultural projects, SEVENTEEN continues to solidify their position as a global K-pop powerhouse.
