SEVENTEEN has released the official concept trailer for their upcoming comeback.
On April 27, the trailer for SEVENTEEN’s 5th full album, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’, was released through their official social media channels. The trailer introduces a dark yet exhilarating world brimming with bold decisions and striking visuals. In the concept trailer, the members embark on daring adventures, culminating in an interactive twist that encourages fans to create their own ending.
The trailer opens with an eerie, suspenseful atmosphere — dim lighting, an abandoned building’s back exit, a stairway, and distant echoes that immediately hint at a thrilling, dark adventure. The visuals feel cinematic, almost like the start of a mystery movie.
Each member of SEVENTEEN is shown separately, facing their own unique daring challenge: where some are seen standing at the top of a building, a subway station, or a crossroads, others are trapped in surreal, dreamlike environments or confront symbolic obstacles — a person in flames falling off a building, a burning truck, mirrors, doors, and shadowy figures — that represent difficult choices or inner fears.
The color palette shifts constantly between dark, moody tones and bursts of intense, vivid color, emphasizing the ‘burst’ theme of ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’. The music swells with intense beats mixed with haunting melodies, building tension as the members move through their respective challenges.
Midway through, there’s a dramatic turning point: the members are presented with a choice — ‘DARE’ or ‘DEATH’ — appearing boldly on the screen. This moment breaks the fourth wall, directly challenging the viewers to participate as well.
The scenes become faster and more chaotic. We see explosions of color, frantic movements, and surreal imagery — transitions from one member to another or mirroring a devil-like shadowy figure. The members show determination, fear, excitement — a range of emotions that pull viewers deeper into the world they’ve created.
Throughout the journey, the members turn to face the camera, almost as if waiting for the viewer to decide their fate. In the end, a screen appears with two options, teasing an interactive twist that says, ‘CHOOSE FOR YOURSELF — CHALLENGE OR SETTLE’.
The trailer ends abruptly, leaving viewers with a lingering sense of anticipation and a hint that ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ will be an album filled with unexpected turns, bold storytelling, and fan-driven elements.
The album commemorates SEVENTEEN’s 10th debut anniversary and features vocals from Wonwoo and Jeonghan, recorded prior to their enlistment.
‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ is set to be released on May 26 at 6:00 PM KST (2:30 PM IST).
