K-pop group SEVENTEEN has made a heartfelt donation to UNESCO in honor of International Youth Day.
On August 13 KST, PLEDIS Entertainment announced that SEVENTEEN had donated $250,000 (approximately 346 million KRW) to UNESCO in honor of International Youth Day. The funds, raised through the ‘JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN’ charity auction, will strengthen the Global Youth Grant Scheme jointly launched by SEVENTEEN and UNESCO.
Unveiled in June, the collaboration brought together SEVENTEEN, Japanese fashion brand sacai, and JOOPITER, the digital commerce platform founded by Pharrell Williams. Notable items from the limited collection included a custom leather jacket designed by sacai, a T-shirt autographed by 11 members of the group, unique Labubu blind boxes, and accessories like necklaces made by designer Yoon Ahn.
“Since our debut, we have grown by capturing the diverse moments of youth through music that reflects our sincere experiences and emotions, making the meaning of International Youth Day especially significant to us. We send our support to all young people around the world who are still pursuing their dreams,” shared SEVENTEEN.
Since being appointed UNESCO’s first Youth Goodwill Ambassadors in 2024, SEVENTEEN has donated $1 million to youth creativity and well-being initiatives, funding 100 youth-led projects. In 2023, they also made history as the first K-pop act to speak and perform at UNESCO headquarters during the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris.
