Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok are in talks to star in MBC’s new drama ‘Liar’ (literal title), potentially reuniting for the first time in nearly eight years.
On July 3, a South Korean channel reported that both actors have been offered lead roles in the new series titled ‘Liar.’ Seo Hyun Jin’s agency, Management SOOP, responded, saying, “She is positively considering starring in ‘Liar.” Yoo Yeon Seok’s agency, KINGKONG by STARSHIP, also shared, “He has received the offer and is reviewing it.” According to an MBC representative, the drama is being considered for broadcast next year.
‘Liar’ is about a man and woman whose morning after their perfect first date takes a shocking turn when their accounts of the night completely differ. As lies and truths intertwine, their lives take unexpected paths. Seo Hyun Jin is in talks to play Kang Ji Seon, a teacher at an arts middle school who, shaped by a difficult childhood, values spotting lies over living honestly. Yoo Yeon Seok has been offered the role of Min Jun Ho, a widowed cardiothoracic surgeon and devoted father who finds himself drawn to his son’s teacher.
If confirmed, this would mark their reunion since SBS’s drama ‘Dr. Romantic’, that aired from 2016 to 2017. Their chemistry in the drama earned them awards for Best Couple, Excellent Actor/Actress in the Genre Drama category, and Best Kiss Scene at the 2016 SBS Drama Awards.
