The last episode ended with a bang of tension; that last scene left us hanging on a knife’s edge. Sure, we knew what was ahead, but nothing could have prepared us for the heartbreak of seeing Gyeon U’s cold act towards our cute and bubbly Seong A. We expected the emotional gut-punch, but still, the depth of heartless behavior from Gyeon U was a harsh turn for many of us.
However, there was one twist that none of us were ready for. The premise, the characters, the development, and the chemistry so far have kept us hooked, but this new shift and chilling intensity truly changed the game.
So, let’s take a look at the key moments from the recent two episodes.
Episode 5

After witnessing the dance of Seong A and Yeom-hwa, Gyeon U connects the dots and is stunned at the realisation that Seong A is none other than the Heaven and Earth Fairy. I thought I was emotionally numb after watching so many K-dramas filled with trauma and heartbreak, but watching Seong A bowing in apology to Gyeon U, only for him to say her excuse sounds like a lie to him, shattered me. She sacrificed and worked so hard to protect him, and still, he shut her down like it meant nothing. He started ignoring her again at school. Not even the saddest K-dramas prepared me for this!
Eventually, Pyo Ji-ho notices this rift and asks them to reconcile. On the rooftop, she drags both boys and confesses about what had happened and about being a shaman. When she’s alone with Ji-ho, she asks him not to say a word about the 21 days of protection she had planned, as otherwise Gyeon U would feel scared and threatened. Later on, she finds out that her human amulet powers are gone because Gyeon U now dislikes her. She then turns to Ji-ho, who willingly volunteers to become the new human amulet for Gyeon U.
Ji-ho was that rare second male lead you couldn’t just bring yourself to hate. But, in this episode, with his thoughtful moves, he is making it harder not to fall for him. As he overhears Gyeon U’s call with “H” and sees his demoralised demeanor, he chooses to protect his friend, rather than staying away from him. And…that’s how Ji-ho earned a place in our hearts.
On the other hand, Seong A was trying to find a way to perform a rite on “Patricia” — the doll the baby ghost was bound to. When Do-yeon refused to sell Patricia to her, Seong A found that the only way to banish the ghost was to return it to the woman who had a miscarriage. She reveals her shaman identity to her classmate, takes the doll, and returns it to the woman. She teared up a bit watching the mother-baby reunion, but what broke her even more was seeing the lip balm she gave Gyeon U tossed in the trash. Jerk!
Episode 6

After coming across Seong A crying on the streets, Gyeon U brings her to his house and offers some warm tea. That’s when Seong A sees pictures of amulets drawn all over Gyeon U’s grandmother, which represent a powerful curse that condemns her to hell. She learns that it was all Yeom-hwa’s doing — and yeah, she was informed earlier about Yeom-hwa’s reputation as a wicked shaman. After clarifying that they had met for the first time on that day at the haunted house, she storms off.
For once, Gyeon U decides to face Yeom-hwa and asks her to cleanse the pictures. This moment was truly intriguing. Yeom-hwa places a talisman on Gyeon U’s face, supposedly to ward off his misfortune, but the robot, Ji-ho’s stand-in amulet, wards off that evil energy. So, what if…she was the reason behind Gyeon U’s misfortune all along?
She goes into Gyeon U’s house and tries to take away the robot. Thankfully, Seong A comes in time and exposes her evil plans, right in front of Gyeon U. In the midst of all the chaos and drama, that moment — when Gyeon U saw Seong A in a new light — was the only flicker of hope during these two episodes.
Meanwhile, General Dongcheon places a curse in return for the curse that Yeom-hwa placed on the ghoul-making amulet. I didn’t like it when she talked about accepting punishment and digging a grave for herself. Please, dear writers, don’t kill her — I’m begging you!
Dongcheon’s curse hits Yeom-hwa very hard. Consumed by rage, she heads to the haunted house, removes all talismans to hasten the sacrificial process. And, as the week comes to an end, a troublesome classmate runs away from his aggressive father only to end up at the haunted house. Eventually, Seong A sees the ghost of the boy’s dog and rushes to his help. Needless to say, when there’s a damsel in distress, the knight in shining armor would follow — and so does Gyeon U. But the twist that followed? Nobody was ready for that!
Nobody could’ve predicted that Gyeon U would be possessed by the evil entity!
Final Thoughts
There’s so much I want to say, but no words feel enough — Gyeon U being possessed? That never even crossed my mind. But, truth to be told, that fire and tension between Seong A and Gyeon U, or rather, possessed Gyeon U, was electrifying. But, what now? What happens to Seong A’s plan in protecting Gyeon U? What will the evil entity unleash? What does this mean for the whole story with this new and wild element in play? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below!
