Red Velvet’s Wendy and Yeri part ways with SM Entertainment after over a decade.
On April 4, SM Entertainment officially announced that Red Velvet’s Wendy and Yeri will be leaving the agency following the expiration of their exclusive contracts. However, they will continue promoting as members of Red Velvet. In their statement, SM Entertainment expressed gratitude for Wendy and Yeri’s time with the company, saying, “The time we spent together with Wendy and Yeri, who—after debuting as Red Velvet—were not only active in group promotions but also as solo artists in various fields, was a great joy for us as well.” They also assured fans that both members would still participate in Red Velvet’s group activities under SM Entertainment’s management.
Wendy, known for her powerful vocals and work as a radio host, debuted with Red Velvet in August 2014. Yeri joined as a new member in March 2015, showcasing her talents as a singer and expanding into acting. Together as a group, they’ve contributed to hit songs like ‘Red Flavor,’ ‘Psycho,’ and ‘Russian Roulette.’ Meanwhile, the other members, Seulgi, Irene, and Joy renewed their contracts with the agency in August 2023, February 2024, and January 2025, respectively.
As Wendy and Yeri embark on new paths, while continuing as part of Red Velvet, fans are looking forward to their future endeavors.
Wishing them all the best in this new chapter!
