MONSTA X drops their pre-release track ‘Do What I Want’ from the upcoming mini-album!
On August 18 at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), Starship Entertainment unveiled the music video for ‘Do What I Want’ from MONSTA X’s upcoming mini-album ‘THE X.’
The hip-hop track, co-written by Joohoney and I.M, speaks about living unapologetically and doing things on one’s own terms. With its addictive hook, groovy bass, bold music, and early ’90s vibe, the song reaffirms that MONSTA X’s powerful and captivating presence in the music industry.
The track is a seamless blend of MONSTA X’s powerful rap flows and distinct vocals, creating a song that’s both smooth and explosive. The music video amplifies this energy, featuring bold goblin-inspired visuals that highlight the group’s raw charisma while adding a playful twist. It strikes a perfect balance between their youthful hip-hop beginnings and the more laid-back maturity they’ve developed over time.
The title of their upcoming mini-album ‘THE X,’ plays on both the Roman numeral X (10) and the idea of an unknown variable, symbolizing endless new possibilities for the group. It will include six tracks in total: ‘Do What I Want’, ‘N The Front’, ‘Savior’, ‘Tuscan Leather’, ‘Catch Me Now’, and ‘Fire & Ice’. This comeback will mark their first full-unit release in over a year, after individual activities and military service.
‘THE X’ is scheduled to release on September 1.
