The Korean Film Archive (KOFA) will be hosting an Indian Film festival to showcase the diversity of Indian films, which are generally inaccessible to Korean audiences in commercial theaters. The films chosen to screen at the festival have been picked through a curated selection of well-acclaimed films that have received accolades and appreciation at the home ground and various overseas film festivals. The selected films are the ‘Baahubali’ franchise, ‘Kantara,’ ‘Laapataa Ladies,’ ‘Three of Us,’ and ‘Dangal.’ These films depict a wide range of Indian cinematographic craftsmanship encompassing the nuances of Indian culture, diversity, and storytelling. The films will be screened from November 26 to November 30 at the Cinematheque KOFA Hall 1, Mapo District, Seoul. The screening will be free of charge, and the screening schedule of the movies can be checked on the official
website of KOFA.
KOFA is a state-run film archive agency that researches, preserves, collects, translates, and presents the cinematic wonders of the national and international film industry. Since 2016, it has collaborated with the Embassy of India in Korea and the Indian Cultural Centre to introduce Indian cinematic masterpieces to Korean viewers. This Indian film festival is a commendable endeavor to strengthen the cultural ties between the two nations through the medium of cinema.
