Set in Seoul in the year 2050, ‘Lost in Starlight’ follows Nan Young, an aspiring astronaut whose mother disappeared during a Mars mission. Her dream of reaching space is driven by a desire to uncover the truth. Before her launch, she crosses paths with Jay, a once-hopeful musician who now repairs retro audio gear. Their unexpected connection—sparked by a broken turntable—evolves into a poignant romance that explores love, loss, and the universe.
This marks Kim Tae Ri’s debut in voice acting. She brings emotional depth to Nan Young, drawing from her acclaimed roles in ‘Space Sweepers’ and ‘Twenty-Five Twenty-One’. Hong Kyung, known for ‘D.P.’ and ‘Revenant’, voices Jay, portraying the character’s quiet strength and vulnerability.
The teaser trailer reveals a dreamy, retro-futuristic Seoul, where analog elements like LPs and cassette decks blend with high-tech visuals. Director Bong Joon Ho praised the film’s “delicate visual perfection that embraces the universe and everyday life,” further heightening anticipation.
‘Lost in Starlight’ is set to premiere on May 30.
