Kim Do Yeon and Lee Jong Won might be joining forces for a sweeping new historical romance drama, ‘Wish Upon a Moon Flower’ (literal title).
On July 18, industry insiders reported that the two actors have been casted as leads in the upcoming series. However, both agencies representing the actors responded that the roles are under consideration. Lee Jong Won’s agency, THEBLACKLABEL, clarified, “‘Wish Upon a Moon Flower’ is a project he has been offered and is currently reviewing.” Fantagio, Kim Do Yeon’s agency, stated similarly, “She is still reviewing the offer to appear in ‘Wish Upon a Moon Flower.”
Set in a war-torn kingdom, ‘Wish Upon a Moon Flower’ will be penned by Jang Yoo Ha, the screenwriter of ‘Doona!’. It follows the unlikely connection between two souls brought together in an isolated village — one that houses prisoners of war. Yang Cho Seol, a gifted swordsmith whose strength lies not in loud declarations but in quiet resilience. Her hands are marked with soot, her spirit shaped by steel — a woman who has learned how to craft beauty in silence.
Kim Do Yeon has been offered the role of Yang Cho Seol. If she accepts, this role would mark Kim Do Yeon’s debut as a drama lead, a long-awaited moment for fans who have followed her journey.
As for Lee Jong Won, he’s been offered the role of Baek Je Hee, a fearsome general of the Gaero Kingdom, known for his chilling behavior and unshakable command. But everything shifts when he encounters Cho Seol. Their meeting sparks something neither expected, maybe fate or maybe something deeper, and that’s where the story begins to unfold.
With emotional tension, a stirring premise, and the promise of slow-burn chemistry, ‘Wish Upon a Moon Flower’ is already turning heads. Especially if you’re a fan of romances that blend grit with grace and a whole lot of aching beauty. This might be the next drama to add to your list.
