The Plot
The drama follows the unexpected romance between South Korean heiress and businesswoman Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin) and Ri Jeong Hyeok (Hyun Bin), a dedicated North Korean soldier. Se Ri, while paragliding, accidentally lands in the North Korean section of the Demilitarized Zone. There, she encounters Captain Ri Jeong Hyeok of the North Korean army, who discovers her and, despite the risks, decides to help her stay hidden and find a way back home. As Se Ri struggles to adjust to life in North Korea, she grows close to Jeong Hyeok, his soldiers, and the local villagers. Over time, she and Jeong Hyeok fall in love, despite their contrasting backgrounds and the challenges of their forbidden romance.
Their journey revolves around finding a safe way for Se Ri to return to South Korea while keeping their love a secret. Meanwhile, Se Ri’s ambitious half-brothers, eager to claim their father’s inheritance, add further complications, making the situation even more difficult.

Yoon Se Ri, the CEO of a successful fashion and beauty company, Seri’s Choice, is also a chaebol heiress with a complicated family history. As her father’s illegitimate child, she faces resentment from her half-brothers and their wives, along with a strained relationship with her stepmother. Se Ri is caught in a paragliding accident when strong winds carry her across the border into North Korea. There, she encounters Jeong Hyeok, who decides to protect her despite the risks. While hiding in North Korea, she bonds with his loyal subordinates and the local ajummas, finding warmth in unexpected places. As Se Ri and Jeong Hyeok work on her escape, their bond grows stronger, overcoming political divides and personal struggles.

Ri Jeong Hyeok, a reserved but skilled captain in the North Korean military, is stationed near the DMZ. A former piano prodigy, he abandoned his musical dreams after his older brother’s mysterious death, enlisting in the army to uncover the truth. Though from a powerful political family, he keeps his lineage hidden. When he discovers Se Ri stranded in his patrol territory, he risks his position to protect her. As they work to get her back to South Korea, their bond deepens, and Jeong Hyeok realizes they had met before in Switzerland.
Seo Dan (played by Seo Ji Hye)
Seo Dan, a North Korean department store heiress and aspiring cellist, is Jeong Hyeok’s fiancée through an arranged marriage. While she has long loved him, he sees their relationship as a duty. As their wedding approaches, she struggles to win his affection but ultimately finds love with Seung Jun, a charming conman.
Gu Seung Jun (played by Kim Jung Hyun)
Gu Seung Jun, a clever but impoverished South Korean conman with British citizenship, seeks revenge on Se Ri’s father, whose actions led to his family’s downfall. He tricks Se Ri’s brother, Se Hyung, into a business scheme, embezzles from their family business, and flees to North Korea to escape arrest. There, he repeatedly crosses paths with Seo Dan and gradually falls for her.
