Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon has been cleared of all prostitution allegations by the police.
On July 2, according to Korean media reports, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station confirmed that the prostitution charges against Ju Haknyeon have been dismissed due to insufficient evidence. They stated that the individual who filed the complaint had submitted evidence based solely on online news articles, and not on any physical proof, which was not enough to continue the investigation.
Controversy arose last month when Ju was put on hiatus, then subsequently removed from THE BOYZ, and his contract with his agency, ONE HUNDRED, was terminated. Soon after, it was revealed that Japanese media outlet Shūkan Bunshun had sent a letter of inquiry to ONE HUNDRED about Ju meeting former Japanese AV star Asuka Kirara in May. Following this, several Korean media outlets reported that he had engaged in prostitution. Ju Haknyeon has repeatedly and firmly denied all claims of illegal activity.
Additionally, Asuka Kirara recently confirmed during a TikTok live that there was no physical relationship with Ju. She clarified that she met him for the first time at the birthday party of an acquaintance and firmly denied any relationship with him.
Furthermore, after the charges against him were formally dropped, Ju Haknyeon posted an Instagram Story showing a 1 billion KRW lawsuit he filed against the TenAsia reporter who first published the story accusing him of prostitution. He included the caption, “An article of lies that aims to ruin my life. Just why did you do that? Let the court reveal the truth.” He has also filed a counter-complaint against the original complainant for false reporting.
