Jackson Wang is back with his highly anticipated album ‘MAGICMAN 2’.
On July 18, global artist Jackson Wang made a comeback with his highly anticipated album, ‘MAGICMAN 2’, along with the MV for the focus track, ‘Made Me a Man’.
‘MAGICMAN 2’ comprises four chapters: Manic Highs, Losing Control, Realizations, and Acceptance. ‘Made Me a Man’, the final song on the album, is all about acceptance and letting go of the past. With raw lyrics and stripped-back production, the track echoes the emotional arc of ‘MAGICMAN 2’. With lyrics that start with “I learned how to run before I could walk / They silenced my voice before I could talk,” the song captures the struggle and turmoil Jackson has faced. Ending with “I told myself enough is enough / Tired of livin’ life for the rush / It’s all been a little too much / But you made me a man,” it signifies acceptance and how past struggles have made him who he is.
Furthermore, the MV builds on this introspective journey, where an isolated Magic Man can be seen overcoming various hurdles, before ultimately turning into Jackson, signifying clarity and making peace with oneself.
The other songs on the album include the previously released singles ‘High Alone’, ‘GBAD’, ‘BUCK feat. Diljit Dosanjh’, and ‘Hate to Love’, along with ‘Not For Me’, ‘Access’, ‘One Time’, ‘Everything’, ‘Dear:’, and ‘Sophie Ricky’.
Written and produced by Jackson Wang, ‘MAGICMAN 2’ explores a wide range of emotions and plays out like a personal journal. He shared, “For the first time, I turned my personal diary into music. This album is about accepting both the light and the dark.”
