On July 18, the fourth annual Blue Dragon Series Awards were held at Incheon’s Paradise City, hosted by Girls’ Generation’s YoonA and Jun Hyun Moo. The awards celebrate excellence in dramas and variety shows on streaming platforms. Launched in 2022 by Sports Chosun, the event focuses on content produced by streaming services, as opposed to television networks.
This year, Netflix’s ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ swept major honors, including the Daesang (Grand Prize). IU won Best Actress, marking her first win in that category, while Yeom Hye Ran took home Best Supporting Actress. Lead stars IU and Park Bo Gum also received Popular Star Awards.
‘The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call’ won Best Drama, with Ju Ji Hoon earning Best Actor and Choo Young Woo named Best Rookie Actor.
Rising star Kim Min Ha took home Best Rookie Actress for her role in ‘Way Back Love’. Meanwhile, Lee Kwang Soo won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in ‘Karma’, rounding out the drama category winners.
In the variety program category, ‘Culinary Class Wars’ won Best Variety Program, and Lee Soo Ji (for SNL Korea) and Kian84 (for ‘Kian’s Bizarre B&B’) were named Best Female Entertainer and Best Male Entertainer, respectively.
OH MY GIRL’s Mimi won Best Rookie Female Entertainer for ‘Kian is CEO’, and Moon Sang Hoon took home Best Rookie Male Entertainer for ‘The Blank Menu for You’.
Hyeri, IU, Lee Jun Hyuk, and Park Bo Gum claimed the Upbeat Popular Star Award, while Ji Ye Eun received the LG U+ Good Influence Award for ‘Kian’s Bizarre B&B’.
Finally, TXT’s Yeonjun won the OST Popularity Award for the song ‘Boyfriend’ from the drama ‘Cinderella at 2 AM’.
