SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi surprises fans with a new song.
On June 15 at 6:15 PM KST (2:45 PM IST), SEVENTEEN member Hoshi dropped a new song and MV as a surprise for fans on the occasion of his birthday. Titled ‘I Want You Back’, Hoshi self-composed the song alongside Shannon Bae and Bir$day. He and Shannon Bae also co-wrote the lyrics for the song.
The music video of ‘I Want You Back’ shows Hoshi dealing with the aftermath of a breakup but wanting to get back together with his ex. He is seen packing things into cardboard boxes, symbolizing the process of putting away old memories in order to move on. Despite that, he goes through old videos on a camcorder, listens to music he likely shared with his ex, and repeatedly checks his phone in hopes of a message. The MV beautifully captures the struggle of moving on while still yearning for the comfort of a familiar love.
Prior to its release, Hoshi teased the song during his birthday live earlier in the day, revealing that it was originally created about three years ago.
Meanwhile, Hoshi is set to embark on a fan concert tour with fellow SEVENTEEN member Woozi, titled ‘WARNING’. He recently released the single album ‘BEAM’ as part of the sub-unit HOSHI X WOOZI. SEVENTEEN also made a comeback last month, on May 26, with the album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’, which not only topped various music charts but also recorded the highest first-day sales of any album so far in 2025, according to Hanteo Chart.
