A dynamic seven-member K-pop group under Global H Media, TRENDZ made their comeback on May 1 with their fifth single album, ‘Chameleon.’ Marking their first Korean release since ‘DREAMLIKE’ in May 2024, ‘Chameleon’ reflects the group’s journey, ever-evolving and adaptable, yet firmly rooted in their identity. Since debuting in January 2022, TRENDZ has made waves with their unique sound, charismatic performances, and strong connection with fans. From bold visuals to genre-defying tracks, the group continues to carve out their place in the global K-pop scene, and ‘Chameleon’ is another powerful step in that direction.
In an exclusive chat with Namaste Hallyu, TRENDZ spoke about their latest album ‘Chameleon’, their musical identities, and even shared a heartfelt message for their fans in India.
Introducing the group in the most TRENDZ way possible, leader Hankook described them as “a team of seven incredibly handsome, stylish, and charismatic young men of the Z Generation, and our name embodies our ambition to lead future trends.”
Talking about their latest release ‘Chameleon,’ their boldest one yet, ra.L, who also contributed as one of the lyricists for the track, shared that the inspiration came quite literally from the chameleon itself. “Its appearance, its skills, even its rap skills—I drew energy and excitement from it,” he explained, adding that the “same chameleon spirit drove the dance too.”
The biggest standout of ‘Chameleon’ is that every member gets a turn in the bridge section at least once—that’s what really makes it unique. And since it’s our first time tackling a song with this kind of concept, I think you’ll feel something fresh there, too. Through ‘Chameleon’ you can hear each member’s hook, and each one brings their own distinct charm.
– Yechan
TRENDZ members went on to recommend their favorite tracks from ‘Chameleon’, especially for those new to their music, with Leon suggesting ‘ddoO ddoO’, a track composed by group member ra.L.
The members also revealed which song from their discography best represents them individually—ra.L chose ‘RPZ’ as a nod to his rapper roots, and Yoonwoo recommended ‘Out of Control,’ calling it “a hidden gem” that captures TRENDZ’s identity. Hankook picked ‘My Way’ for its emotional depth, while Havit, who considers himself a lyrical person, chose ‘Forever More.’ Leon humorously selected ‘Chameleon’ since “it even includes my name,” and Yechan wrapped up the list with ‘Fantasy,’ describing it as “dreamy and always easy to listen to.”
If I had to pick one from all our songs, I’d choose ‘New Days.’ Because it carries the meaning that our future is bright and that we’ll move forward with even more hope.
– Eunil
“It’s so refreshing—we’ve chosen a wide variety of songs,” Hankook noted with a smile, reflecting on how each member’s pick added a different layer to TRENDZ’s evolving soundscape.
The group also spilled the beans on their unexpected hobbies, which K-pop group they’d love to perform with, dreams they hope to achieve, and shared a special message for their Indian fans, Friendz.
To all of you supporting Friendz in India, we’re truly grateful—and if we get the chance, we can’t wait for the day we can see you as soon as possible.
– Yoonwoo
From genre-fluid music to heartfelt fan connections, TRENDZ is a group that refuses to be boxed in. With ‘Chameleon,’ they’re not only showing off their artistic range but also reminding the world why they’re a group to watch. And with their eyes set on global stages, it’s only a matter of time before they make their way to meet their Indian Friendz in person.
