Dailog, a singer-songwriter and composer from South Korea, recently released his debut EP ‘basecamp’ on September 1. The six-track suite, featuring ‘morning twist,’ ‘boyscout,’ ‘basecamp,’ ‘doodle,’ ‘pajama party,’ and ‘campfire,’ maps a day spent with someone you love.
In an exclusive conversation with Namaste Hallyu, Dailog shared the story behind ‘basecamp’ and the musical path that led him from writing OSTs to releasing songs in his own voice.

Park Jihoon, who goes by the stage name Dailog, explained that the name is a blend of “daily” and “log,” reflecting his aim to capture small, meaningful moments and turn them into songs that become part of someone’s routine. His debut EP reflects that very philosophy. “‘basecamp’ is a six-track EP built around the idea of spending a day with someone you love, from morning to night. It’s like a journey that shows how love can be both a safe place to rest and also a starting point for everything in life,” he said.
Talking about how the music came together, Dailog described the balance he seeks in his creative process. “I try to separate the stages,” he said, adding, “When I’m writing and arranging, I focus completely on emotions and intuition; it’s very spontaneous. Later, in production and mixing, I switch into a more logical mindset, thinking carefully about sound quality. That balance between emotion and logic keeps the project moving.”
Musically, ‘basecamp’ blends surf rock with dream pop, leaning more on emotion than polish. “Surf rock gave me the rough edge, and dream pop added the dreamy vibe I love. Together, they felt like the right mix to express myself,” he explained.
His goal, he emphasized, was to create music that offers comfort and warmth.
I really want people to feel comfort, warmth, and love in the small moments of everyday life. Hopefully, the songs can be like a little base camp where they can find rest inside their own day.
This step into solo work came after an unexpected breakthrough. A demo track called ‘Game’ unexpectedly crossed one million streams on Spotify, giving him the push to release his own music. “(It) gave me confidence in my own voice, and that moment really pushed me to finally work on and release this EP,” he recalled.
Another milestone in his journey was contributing to the OST of the popular K-drama ‘Hospital Playlist’. “At that time, I was still at the beginning of my career, but the production team trusted me with a song for Joy of Red Velvet. Both the drama and the song got so much love,” he said, remembering how it was also the first time he saw his music chart highly on Korean streaming platforms.

Looking back, Dailog sees a clear difference between OST composition and his solo work. “With OSTs, I have to represent a character or a story in a drama, but as a solo artist, it’s all about my own feelings and perspective. It’s more personal, more honest,” he shared, adding, “Making my own album feels like pure play with no pressure other than enjoying my music.”
Beyond his own work, Dailog also expressed admiration for Indian music. Calling it “vibrant,” he noted, “The rhythms and melodies are unique and emotionally very direct. I’d love to try blending some of those elements into my own music in the future.”
He also shared a heartfelt message for fans in India, expressing his wish to meet them in person one day. :
Thank you so much for listening to my music, and thank you for having me. Even though we come from different cultures and languages, it’s beautiful how music connects us. I really hope I can visit India one day, meet you all in person, and share the stage together.
With ‘basecamp,’ Dailog turns simple daily experiences into soft, textured tracks that linger with feeling. Written with emotion and finished with care, the EP feels like a cozy resting place listeners can return to again and again.
