After a significant hiatus, K-Pop idol LUCAS made his much-awaited solo debut with ‘Renegade’ on April 1, 2024. The album, marks a new chapter for the idol, showcasing his versatility as an artist as well as personal growth. The title reflects his journey of starting anew and embracing change. ‘Renegade’ features three tracks, each exploring different genres, and showcasing his broad range of musical styles. With every track, the soloist not only captures attention but also reaffirms his commitment to evolving and inspiring his audience.
In an exclusive interview with Namaste Hallyu, LUCAS got candid about his solo debut ‘Renegade,’ the challenges he faced in his musical journey, India, his inspiration, and ultimately a message for his fans.
While diving into the significance of his solo release, LUCAS shares what he hopes the listeners will take away from it, “This album represents a fresh start for me after a significant time away. My team and I worked tirelessly on this album, and the three songs included showcase different genres. I hope that when listeners hear these songs, they feel empowered and find strength within themselves.” LUCAS confesses that he learned the word ‘Renegade’ through this album and though he was initially worried that the listeners might misunderstand the term, he was pacified by his team explaining that “it has many interpretations,” and so, the artist wanted to convey that he is “ready to start over and create my new world.”
A musician’s journey isn’t without challenges, especially one like LUCAS who became a soloist after being a part of a huge group for years. However, there are moments when the solo experiences can be rewarding as well. Elucidating on the same, he says, “This is my first experience as a solo artist, so managing everything on stage alone was a big adjustment. However, I realized I am not alone—I have a supportive team and staff who encourage me through every challenge. The energy and love I receive from my fans during my fan-con tour have also been incredibly rewarding.” He further talks about what inspires him to keep pushing boundaries and moving forward and adds, “Although there have been moments of frustration, I feel an overwhelming sense of love, not just from my fans but also from my staff. Their sincerity and support motivate me to continuously challenge myself and strive for greatness.”
As a K-Pop artist, travel is an integral part of life for any idol, and LUCAS too has had opportunities to travel a lot. As someone fond of visiting new places, LUCAS says that he enjoys “immersing myself in different cultures and tasting local foods whenever I travel. Each journey brings unique experiences that become cherished memories. That’s why I like to take vlogs; they help me remember and appreciate those moments later.”
The artist shares that he has recently fallen in love with jogging as a means to unwind, as “it’s not only a way to improve my physical fitness, but it also allows me to reflect and listen to my inner voice, helping me feel calm and relaxed afterward.” LUCAS also describes what an ideal day looks like in his life, “I find myself at the company almost every day preparing for festival stages, studying English, and exercising. So, I spend a lot of time with my manager, focusing on constant improvement and growth.”
