On October 13, Chancellor made a comeback with his full album titled ‘Chancellor’. The nine-track album is his first release after he joined KONNECT Entertainment in August this year. It is also his first full album in five years and features well-known artists Younha, Gaeko, Paloalto and Knave. Chancellor himself wrote and composed all nine songs.
The title track, ‘Midnight,’ is a disco song featuring rap by Gaeko. Johan Kim, Chae Yeon, and Shinhwa’s Jun Jin make guest appearances in this video. The MV, set in a club, is reminiscent of the retro atmosphere of Michael Jackson’s hits.
Out of the nine tracks, ‘Walking In The Rain’ featuring Younha was released in August 2020. The song is soothing and has two MVs, a vintage-style MV and a duet film.
The nine tracks in the album are incredibly smooth, with a beat nostalgic of the initial years of K-Pop when artists drew influence from the music of Michael Jackson.
Chancellor, whose birth name is Michael Kim, is a Korean-American singer-songwriter under KONNECT Entertainment. He is also an award-winning producer and a former member of the production duo Duble Sidekick and hip-hop group Oneway. He debuted as a solo artist on August 13, 2016, but has been an active part of the Korean music industry since 2010.
