From stealing hearts in ‘All of Us Are Dead’ to captivating audiences with his nuanced performance in ‘High School Return of a Gangster’, Yoon Chan Young continues to prove why he’s one of Korea’s most promising young actors. Having begun his journey in the industry at a young age, he has grown not just in his craft but also as a person, shaping his perspective both on and off screen.
In an exclusive chat with Namaste Hallyu, Yoon Chan Young opened up about the lessons he’s learned over the years, the one thing he wants to try if he ever visits India, and a warm message for his Indian fans.

Reflecting on his early start, debuting in 2013 at just 12 years old, Yoon Chan Young shared how acting has played a vital role in his personal growth. “I’ve learned a lot through acting, not just as an actor, but also as a person,” he reflected. “I think I’ve gained many valuable experiences and grown through them. I feel like I’ve especially learned a lot about relationships with people,” he shared.
While the relationships and ways of communication between each character are very important, I also learned how important it is to build good relationships with the people I work with on set.
This evolving maturity is especially apparent in ‘High School Return of a Gangster’, where the young actor now leads the story rather than supporting it. Known for portraying younger versions of lead characters in his early days, he’s come full circle, commanding the screen as a main protagonist. The fantasy teen-action drama follows a body swap between two vastly different individuals, and Yoon Chan Young’s layered performance anchors its heart.
On the topic of switching lives, mirroring the premise of the show, he joked, “I want to switch places with my cat at home,” adding with a grin, “I’d like to experience my cat’s life firsthand.”

His playful side aside, Yoon Chan Young also expressed genuine appreciation for the love K-dramas receive from India, a country whose interest in Korean culture continues to grow. Asked what he’d most like to do if he visited, he confessed with a smile, “Since curry originally comes from India, I’d really love to try it there with some naan someday.”
As the conversation drew to a close, Yoon Chan Young left fans with a heartfelt message, “Hello, my Indian fans. This is Yoon Chan Young. I heard that ‘High School Return of a Gangster’ will be streaming on Amazon Prime in India. I hope many of you will watch and enjoy it! Please send lots of love to both Deuk Pal and Yi Heon. Thank you! Enjoy watching!”
With charm, humility, and a talent that transcends borders, Yoon Chan Young continues to forge a path that resonates with fans around the world. And with his eyes set on new adventures, we hope that a trip to India and that long-awaited bowl of curry isn’t too far off in his future.
