BTS’ leader RM, aka Kim Namjoon, has donated 100 million won to a veteran support project on his birthday.
On 12 September, RM’s agency BigHit Music announced that the artist, on the occasion of his birthday, has donated 100 million won to the ‘Everyone’s Veterans Dream’ project which supports the welfare of veterans, their families, and other uniformed service members like armed forces, firefighters, prison officers, and police. The donation was made through the Uniform Worker Appreciation Campaign, which is run by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. The donated funds will be used to honor and provide aid to the uniformed service members who have served the country and their bereaved families. RM, through his agency, said, “I hope that this will be of some help to all the heroes who are dedicating themselves to the country at this very moment, and also to the many people who have worked hard for peace.”
RM, leader of the K-pop boy group BTS, has made several donations and charitable contributions on the occasion of his birthday in the past as well. In 2021 and 2022, he contributed to the ‘Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation’ which aims to preserve and restore Korean artifacts abroad. Similarly, last year, he donated 100 million won in funds to the ‘Korean Society of Legal Medicine.’ RM is presently serving in the military for his mandatory enlistment. He has also been an honorary ambassador for the Defense Ministry’s Agency for KIA Recovery and Identification since May last year. In other news, RM’s documentary ‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place’ has been chosen for screening at BIFF (Busan International Film Festival) this year.
