BTS made history as the first Korean artist to receive the Presidential Commendation Award!
On December 8 KST, BTS was awarded the Presidential Commendation at the 5th Korea Good Donation Awards, marking a historic milestone as the first Korean artist to receive this honor. The ceremony was organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in collaboration with the Korea Council of Volunteering and Charity.
In a press release, BTS dedicated the award to their global fanbase, ARMY, stating, “We feel deeply rewarded knowing that the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign has had a positive impact on our society. We believe this award is not so much for us, but rather a form of encouragement and support for everyone who resonated with the message we shared through the campaign: ‘Let’s love ourselves, and also love the world.’ In particular, we would like to give this honor to our ARMY. We will continue striving to be BTS—artists who contribute to warm and healthy change.”
BTS’ collaboration with UNICEF began in 2017 with the launch of the ‘LOVE MYSELF’ campaign, which aims to help end violence, abuse, and bullying, and to promote self-esteem and well-being among children and young people globally. The initiative has raised over 9.2 billion KRW ($6.2 million), making BTS UNICEF’s largest private donor in child protection. Over the years, the members have also made headlines for their individual contributions to various causes, including autism support, preservation of Korean art heritage, and wildfire relief.
Additionally, BTS is preparing for their full-group comeback along with a world tour in the first half of next year.
Congratulations to BTS!
