AR Rahman recently hosted Mame and Shosei from the popular J-pop group JO1 at his Mumbai studio, sparking excitement over a potential cross-cultural collaboration.
The music maestro shared a photo with the duo on Instagram, captioning: “This picture screams cultural fusion at its finest! members Mame and Shosei met with the legendary AR Rahman at his studio in Mumbai. Certainly a collaboration we can all look forward to. AR Rahman and JO1 – worlds coming together.”

The meeting marks JO1’s first visit to India and a rare public studio moment from Rahman, further fueling speculation of something in the works. During their stay in Mumbai, Mame and Shosei also visited cultural landmarks, including the Gateway of India and Marine Drive.
Formed in 2019 under Lapone Entertainment, JO1 has quickly risen as a J-pop powerhouse with chart-topping hits and a 2025 world tour across six countries. While no official collaboration has been confirmed, fans are already buzzing about the possibility of Rahman’s experimental sound blending with JO1’s polished pop.
