The long-awaited live adaptation of one of the most loved web novels, ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’, is officially going to take the world by storm. Ever since the announcement of the adaptation, ‘Omniscient Reader: The Prophet,’ anticipation has been high among readers and fans of the web novel.
On July 17, Lotte Entertainment confirmed that the film ‘Omniscient Reader: The Prophet’ starring Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min Ho, and others, will be officially released in 113 countries, marking one of the widest global rollouts for a Korean film in recent years.
The film is directed by Kim Byung Woo, known for ‘Take Point’, and produced by REALIES Pictures. This fantasy-action film is set in a world where the events of a fictional novel begin to become reality and only one man knows what’s about to come.
Ahn Hyo Seop plays the protagonist, Kim Dok Ja, a seemingly ordinary reader who suddenly finds himself trapped in the dystopian world of a fantasy novel he has been reading. Armed with the knowledge of the plot, Dok Ja becomes the only one capable of navigating the chaos that erupts.
The novel’s central figure, Yoo Joong Hyuk (portrayed by Lee Min Ho), finds himself face-to-face with the reader who once experienced his story from the outside. Their complex dynamic explores the blurry lines between fiction and reality, fate and free will.
The film also boasts an impressive star-studded ensemble, including Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, Nana, Jisoo, and more, each stepping into pivotal roles that bring key characters from the novel’s intricate universe to life.
The release schedule is set to begin from July 23 in South Korea and Taiwan, July 30 in Indonesia, July 31 in Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand, August 1 in the United States, Canada and Vietnam, and additional premieres in Japan, Cambodia, Philippines, Germany, Austria and more.
With stunning visuals, emotionally charged character arcs, and a metanarrative that redefines storytelling, ‘Omniscient Reader: The Prophet’ isn’t just a film- it’s a high-concept journey through survival, sacrifice, and self-discovery.
