The Plot
A group of strangers, each grappling with a traumatic experience from their past, find their ordinary lives disrupted when they are inexplicably drawn to a mysterious light shop located at the end of a dubious alleyway. The shop, run by the cautious owner Jung Won-young (Ju Ji-hoon), may hold the key to the strangers’ pasts, presents, and futures. As they piece together their forgotten memories, they slowly realise that something is very wrong, but they can’t figure out what.
The series explores the boundary between life and death, with the varying gazes of the characters symbolising their connection to both realms. Among the strangers is Kwon Young-ji (Park Bo-young), an intensive care unit nurse whose life was forever changed following a near-death experience that left her in a coma; she now cares for patients who are also on the brink of death, often encountering her patients’ spirits, including that of an elderly woman who may be connected to the light shop’s secrets.
The story also follows Lee Ji-young (Kim Seol-hyun), a mysterious woman who appears at the light shop with a large suitcase. Yang Sung-sik (Bae Seong-woo) is a detective who scrutinizes every corner of the light shop with a sharp gaze, sensing that something is off saying, “This place is a bit strange,” as he investigates its mysteries. Hyun-min (Uhm Tae-goo) is a man with a confused expression who becomes entangled in mysterious events.
