BTS is all set to hold a comeback performance in Gwanghwamun!
On January 20, Korea Heritage Service conditionally approved HYBE’s proposal to use and film at Gyeongbok Palace, Gwanghwamun and Sungnyemun. The agency stated that performance was approved on condition of “forming a subcommittee and reviewing the impact of the performance on cultural heritage.”
According to the proposal, the tentative title of the show is ‘K-heritage and K-pop fusion performance’. The performance will feature a ‘stage entrance sequence’ connecting major areas of Gyeongbok Palace to Gwanghwamun, along with a media facade display projected onto the walls of Gwanghwamun, according to the submitted documents.
The application also states that the performance will be live-streamed to audiences in about 190 countries through a global streaming platform with approximately 300 million subscribers.
Additionally, HYBE is seeking permission to hold a live performance on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square, one of the busiest public spaces in Seoul. If both projects receive final approval, BTS will become the first artists to hold a concert at Gwanghwamun Square since its redevelopment.
BTS’s 5th album ‘ARIRANG’ is set to release on March 20 at 1 PM KST (9:30 PM IST). Following the release, the group will embark on a large-scale world tour beginning in Goyang, South Korea on April 9, with 79 shows across 34 cities currently confirmed.
