A make-believe deal that turns into a real lifetime engagement… What more could we want for a happy ending?
‘Would You Marry Me?’ is one of those rare K-dramas that strikes the perfect balance between simplicity, comedy, and romance. From the very first episode, viewers were hooked — not just because of the lead actors, but also because of its beautifully simple storyline and the natural charm of its characters. The show steps away from typical cringey moments and over-the-top drama, maintaining a steady, consistent tone throughout.
Personally, I feel that even though it’s a rom-com, the show draws attention to several real-life lessons. For instance, through the main characters, we see that you shouldn’t let yourself become a doormat, and that sometimes the people closest to your heart can hurt you. However, we’re also reminded that life can turn around in your favor, even when you least expect it. One thing worth pointing out is that everyone nailed their roles and brought authenticity to their characters.
Naturally, what really stood out was the chemistry between the two main leads. Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min are both known as natural performers, and I must say that pairing them up was a great decision. They each brought such an effortless and genuine energy to the drama that fans couldn’t help but swoon over their chemistry.
Episode 11

We return to the moment when Woo-joo discovers his uncle’s involvement in his parents’ death and the uncle is subsequently arrested. Upon learning the truth about her husband, Woo-joo’s aunt is shocked and spends her days crying beside her mother’s bed. Elsewhere, Woo-joo takes Me-ri to his parents’ graves and introduces her to them. After finally confessing their “sins” to Sang-hyun and giving up the house, they feel relieved.
As our lead characters are happily out shopping, they are spotted by their coworkers, who end up teasing them all night long during a housewarming event. In the meantime, Eun-song visits his father in prison and, as expected, announces that he is cutting all ties with him.
When it comes to Sang-hyun, he finds himself in a tough spot as news breaks about the mayor’s corrupt involvement with the beauty department store, and he is asked to handle the mess. When he stops by an old orphanage, he crosses paths with Jin-gyeon, and this prompts Sang-hyun to reminisce about the past and how he ended up in the position he is in today.
On the other hand, the unemployed Woo-joo is completely discouraged by constant professional rejections and ends up drunk in front of the luxurious townhouse. Fueled by jealousy at the sight of Woo-joo and Me-ri together, he sends invitations to the media and prepares a press conference to expose the scam.
Episode 12

Despite his best attempts, Woo-joo is unable to hold his press conference, as he is sued by the department store’s legal team. When Me-ri arrives at the scene, the two get an official closure. Meanwhile, Sang-hyun takes the blame for the corruption scandal and goes to jail. Before leaving, he asks Jin-gyeong to take care of his pets.
You know how villains never change, right? Well, true to that idea, Woo-joo’s mother and sister show up at his house, supposedly to denounce Me-ri. They meet Woo-joo’s grandmother and try to defame Me-ri. As a result, when Me-ri’s mother learns what happened, she goes to confront them. And I have to admit, seeing Me-ri’s mother strike back and take her revenge on that mother–daughter duo was one of the most satisfying moments of the show. The way she went straight for the hair was simply incredible.
As weeks go by, Me-ri begins to feel insecure and starts to believe that Woo-joo’s grandmother has rejected her as a daughter-in-law. Once the misunderstanding is cleared, Woo-joo and Me-ri receive the approval of Woo-joo’s grandmother, along with a wedding ring. That’s right—what started as a fake wedding scenario ends up becoming a genuine wedding.
Final Thoughts
A final, heartfelt thought is that even though the show had a few small flaws, I truly appreciate that there was no unnecessary drama or heavy emotional detours on the way to the finale. One thing I really value is the simplicity of this drama. The plot was solid, the pace was smooth, and the characters did not disappoint.
So, we’ve reached the end. This was our final review for ‘Would You Marry Me?,’ and I really hope you enjoyed both the drama and our honest review!
