K-pop idols get top nominations at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
On August 5 (local time), MTV announced the nominees for this year’s VMAs, with several K-pop idols securing nominations.
BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ scored an impressive eight nominations, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects—all of them for her hit track ‘APT.’ with Bruno Mars. She was also nominated in the Best K-Pop category for ‘toxic till the end’ from her debut solo album.

Notably, the three other BLACKPINK members were also nominated in the Best K-Pop category: Jisoo for ‘earthquake’, LISA for ‘Born Again’ featuring Doja Cat & RAYE, and Jennie for ‘like JENNIE’.

The other nominees in the Best K-Pop category include aespa for ‘Whiplash’, BTS’ Jimin for ‘Who’, and Stray Kids for ‘Chk Chk Boom’.

Additionally, HYBE’s global girl group KATSEYE was nominated in the MTV Push Performance of the Year category for their breakthrough single ‘Touch’.

Voting for all categories, including Best K-Pop, is now open on the VMAs website and will remain open until September 6 at 6 PM local time.
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on September 7 at 8:00 PM ET (September 8, 5:30 AM IST) at the UBS Arena in New York.
