SBS has unveiled photos from the script reading of ‘Queen Mantis‘ and revealed its premiere date.
On August 4, SBS released a series of photos from the script reading of its upcoming thriller drama ‘Queen Mantis’. The drama stars Go Hyun Jung, Jang Dong Yoon, Jo Sung Ha, and Lee El, and is directed by Byun Young Joo and penned by Lee Young Jong.

Adapted from the French series ‘La Mante’, ‘Queen Mantis’ follows infamous serial killer Jung Yi Shin, also known as “The Mantis,” portrayed by Go Hyun Jung. Twenty years ago, she brutally murdered five men and has been imprisoned ever since. But when a new copycat killer appears, mimicking the original Mantis’s modus operandi, the police are left scrambling. To stop the killings, they turn to the original Mantis herself for help.
Adding to the intrigue, the detective in charge of the case is Cha Soo Yeol, played by Jang Dong Yoon, who also happens to be Jung Yi Shin’s estranged son. Having resented his mother his entire life, Soo Yeol is now forced to work with her to end the killing spree.

The cast also includes Jo Sung Ha as Choi Jung Ho, head of the Violent Crimes Unit at the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, and Lee El as Kim Na Hee, a senior detective assisting Choi Jung Ho and Cha Soo Yeol in investigating the copycat case.
Previously, in December 2024, SBS had released a teaser trailer for ‘Queen Mantis‘ during the 2024 SBS Drama Awards, giving fans a sneak peek into the upcoming thriller.
With its chilling premise and compelling character dynamics, ‘Queen Mantis’ promises a gripping and suspenseful story.
‘Queen Mantis‘ is set to premiere on September 5 at 9:50 PM KST (6:20 PM IST) on SBS.
