BTS’ SUGA has returned from the military and has written a heartfelt letter addressing his fans.
On June 21, BTS member SUGA marked his official discharge from the military with a touching message to fans on Weverse. As the final BTS member to complete his service, SUGA reflected on the past two years and expressed deep gratitude to ARMY (the BTS fandom) for their unwavering support.
In his letter, SUGA warmly greeted fans and said, “As of today, I have been discharged from the military and am greeting you all for the first time in a long while. Because it’s a day I’ve been waiting for, and it’s also been such a long time, I pondered a lot about how to greet you. First, above all else, I wanted to sincerely thank my fans for waiting for me until now. I really missed you.”
He also addressed and apologized for the DUI incident from last year, expressing how deeply it pained him to have disappointed those who supported him, including his fellow BTS members.
He concluded by promising to work even harder in the future to return the love he has received. SUGA reassured fans that he would stay connected and provide frequent updates, ending his message with heartfelt love and appreciation.
SUGA began serving as a social service worker in September 2023 and was officially discharged on June 21. With his return from the military, BTS has now reunited after two years.
SUGA’s full letter reads as follows:
Hello everyone, it’s good to see you. This is Suga.
It’s been about two years. How have you all been?
As of today, I have been discharged from the military and am greeting you all for the first time in a long while.
Because it’s a day I’ve been waiting for, and it’s also been such a long time, I pondered a lot about how to greet you.
First, above all else, I wanted to sincerely thank my fans for waiting for me until now. I really missed you.I think that over the past two years, I took time to think about myself.
In particular, I also felt that I needed to temporarily distance myself and step back from the work I’d been doing for a long time.
Before, I’d only been racing forward without looking back on myself, but this time gave me the opportunity to reflect on myself once again.ARMY, thank you, and thank you again for waiting for me.
Also, I apologize for disappointing you and giving you cause for concern through the incident from last year.
What upset me most of all was the fact that I hurt the hearts of my fans.
I also felt sorry to the [other BTS] members, whose hearts must have been heavy because of me.In the future, I will work even harder to try and repay the love you have given me.
I love you. Everyone, I’ll share updates with you often.
