ASTRO’s JinJin has received an exemption from military duties owing to health conditions.
On June 2, Fantagio officially announced that ASTRO member JinJin has been exempted from mandatory military service due to an autoimmune disease. The decision follows a detailed physical examination conducted by the Military Manpower Administration.
Fantagio shared, “While his condition does not interfere with daily life, he requires regular hospital visits for examinations and ongoing management. Based on the medical opinion that it would be difficult for him to participate in military service under such circumstances, he has been granted an exemption from mandatory military duty.”
The agency’s full statement reads as follows:
Hello, this is Fantagio.
We would like to inform you about ASTRO member JinJin’s military service status.
JinJin has been deemed unfit for military duty following a detailed medical examination by the Military Manpower Administration due to health issues related to an autoimmune condition.
While his condition does not interfere with daily life, he requires regular hospital visits for examinations and ongoing management. Based on the medical opinion that it would be difficult for him to participate in military service under such circumstances, he has been granted an exemption from mandatory military duty.

JinJin, ASTRO’s leader and main rapper, debuted as an actor in 2015 with the web drama ‘To Be Continued’ and officially joined ASTRO the following year. Recently, he has been active as a musical actor in the show ‘SHOW MUSICAL Dream High’, which ran until June 1 at Woori Financial Art Hall in Olympic Park, Seoul. He will continue to perform in the extended run of ‘SHOW MUSICAL Dream High’ from June 17 to July 20. Additionally, he will join his group and former ASTRO member Rocky for ‘The 4th ASTROAD [Stargraphy]’ concert, set to take place on June 7 and 8 at the Incheon Inspire Arena.
