K-Drama Recommendation of the Week – ‘All of Us Are Dead’: In a School Overrun by the Undead, Survival Is the Only Lesson

“We’re the only ones who can save ourselves.” – Lee Cheong-san (All of Us Are Dead)

In the realm of zombie fiction, few stories hit as close to home as ‘All of Us Are Dead’. The 2022 Netflix series centers on a group of high school students struggling to survive a zombie outbreak in the fictional South Korean city of Hyosan. It is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by Joo Dong-geun, originally published between 2009 and 2011. Set against the familiar backdrop of a high school, this gripping South Korean drama takes the undead genre and infuses it with raw emotion, social commentary, and gut-wrenching humanity. While bloodthirsty zombies may swarm the halls, it’s the chilling portrayal of fear, betrayal, sacrifice, and teenage resilience that truly haunts the viewer.

When a mysterious virus turns humans into flesh-eating zombies, the once-ordinary Hyosan High School becomes ground zero for a terrifying outbreak. Trapped within the school and cut off from the outside world, a group of students must rely on each other to survive. As panic erupts and their classmates become deadly threats, the survivors are forced to make heartbreaking choices — deciding who they can trust, who is worth saving, and how far they’re willing to go to make it through.

As the infection spreads rapidly across Hyosan, authorities struggle to contain the chaos. Meanwhile, the remaining students confront their deepest fears, emotional wounds, and moral dilemmas. Amid the horror, friendships are strained, long-hidden truths emerge, and true courage is born in the most desperate of circumstances.
