South Korean R&B artist Jimmy Brown has steadily built a name for himself with his soulful voice, evocative songwriting, and genre-blending sound. Now, with the release of his latest EP, ‘Six Miles To Seoul,’ a cross-cultural collaboration with Indian artist Rahul Rajkhowa, Jimmy is ushering in a new chapter in his musical journey: one that’s deeply personal and filled with heart.
In an exclusive interview with Namaste Hallyu, Jimmy Brown opens up about the inspiration behind the EP, his evolution as an artist, signing with a label after years of being independent, and why he’s so excited to finally meet his Indian fans, affectionately known as BROWNIES.
Jimmy opens with the inspiration behind his latest EP ‘Six Miles To Seoul’, sharing how he and Indian artist Rahul Rajkhowa started working on the album years ago, a rare case for him. “Usually, once I start something, I want to put it out right away. So, taking our time really meant we were grinding,” says Jimmy. Despite the challenges that come with working from two different parts of the world, their patience paid off, as ‘Six Miles To Seoul’ is more than just an EP; it’s a story of friendship, self-reflection, and shared experience.
“This project is literally our journey. It’s about how we feel in our daily lives, which means it’s really about all of us.”
The seed for Jimmy’s collaboration with Rahul was planted years ago when they connected through Instagram. Speaking of the same, Jimmy expands, “We connected through IG ages ago and worked on a single called ‘Bad Girls’, which ended up on the album. Since then, we have stayed in touch and wanted to do more. It took a couple of years, but now we’re here!”
As a collaborative EP, ‘Six Miles To Seoul’ primarily features English songs. However, the album has two songs—‘Tu Meri Favorite’ and ‘You’re Too Beautiful’—featuring heavy Hindi lyrics, adding another layer of emotional resonance. “Oh, I love him singing in Hindi,” Jimmy says while referring to Rahul, adding, “For me, it’s like singing in both English and Korean; it just flows. I never told him this, but I hope he sings even more in Hindi for our next project.”
Expanding on this emotional depth, shortly after the release of ‘Six Miles To Seoul,’ Jimmy dropped a new single, ‘My Home,’ a heartfelt track about finding peace. Reflecting on his definition of home, Jimmy shares, “Home is where love is. Wherever love is, I can call that home. Everything else comes after.” He further explains the inspiration behind the track, noting how it parallels the second phase of his life, a theme he introduced with his 2025 song ‘Phase 2’, reinforcing that “home is where love is.”
Since ‘Phase 2’, I feel like my life entered this second phase, starting a family, thinking about having a baby. Those thoughts really changed how I behave and think. Before I wrote the song, I kept asking myself, ‘What is really home?’ And the answer was simple: home is where love is.
These deeper themes in his recent music also signal a broader shift in Jimmy’s career. After spending most of his career as an independent artist, Jimmy recently signed with JWIN Entertainment. Reflecting on this decision, he shares, “I wanted to explore more than just dropping music, though I’ll always keep doing that. The CEO of JWIN is someone I truly trust. He has a big vision, and that made it a win-win for both of us.” He also emphasizes that joining an agency hasn’t limited his creative freedom, but rather opened up new opportunities for him.
JWIN lets me be me. They don’t interfere with the music, so I can fully be myself. Plus, I’ve had the chance to try new things like TV shows and radio, which have been exciting.
With new support behind him, Jimmy is ready to take his music to the global stage. He is now gearing up for a world tour across North America, Europe, and Asia. He excitedly shares his plans to have a stop in India as well during the world tour, saying, “I AM SO DOWN! I’d love to experience the culture and meet all the beautiful people there.”
While he enjoys the grind of touring, Jimmy keeps things grounded throughout the process. Despite the challenges of a multi-country tour, his routine, as he puts it, is “Nothing fancy. I just keep my daily routine the same. Wake up, hit the gym. That’s how I start my day. Gotta get good sleep though!”
Talking about a possible India tour, Jimmy hints at plans to share the stage with Rahul Rajkhowa, adding, “I’ve got some fresh songs I haven’t performed yet. So yeah, expect something new!”
Outside of touring, Jimmy continues to thrive behind the scenes as a songwriter. Having written both his own songs and for other artists like GOT7’s BamBam, he reflects on the key difference, preferring to write for himself rather than others.
I think I prefer writing for myself because I know exactly what I can do with my vocals. For R&B, vocals really matter. It’s more fun that way. But I’m always open when it comes to someone as talented as BamBam.
Jimmy also happily shares one of his songs, which he would love to see get a Bollywood twist, ‘2AM’. “It’s one of my favorite songs ever. I’d love to hear how it transforms with Hindi lyrics,” he shares.
For new fans discovering Jimmy Brown, he adds that ‘2AM’ is the perfect song to introduce to them, adding ‘Phase 2’ to the list.
‘2AM’ and ‘Phase 2’. ‘2AM’ has that R&B vibe I love, and ‘Phase 2’ shows the softer side of me in this game.
As he wraps up, Jimmy has a piece of advice for all indie artists, drawn from his own experiences. He shares, “Just keep going. Don’t ask people who don’t even know you, ‘Am I gonna make it?’ You know yourself better than anyone. Trust that and grind.”
As for his growing fanbase of Indian BROWNIES, he excitedly assures them that he will be seeing them this year.
I promise you guys. I’ll be there this year! Love you guys!
With heartfelt projects like ‘Six Miles To Seoul’ and ‘My Home’, and a global tour on the horizon, Jimmy Brown is ready to show fans a new side of himself.
