tvN has officially announced the cast line-up for its upcoming drama ‘First, for Love’ (literal title), confirming Yum Jung Ah,Park Hae Jun , Choi Yoon Ji, and Kim Min Kyu in leading roles.
‘First, for Love’ (directed by Yoo Je-won , written by SUNGWOO, and produced by Studio Dragon and Showrunners) follows a heartfelt story of a 43-year-old single mother and her 23-year-old daughter who, when faced with life’s unexpected challenges, learn to embrace the present rather than wait for tomorrow. The drama is expected to deliver warmth, empathy, and moments of emotional resonance, blending family dynamics with romance across generations.

Yum Jung Ah will portray Lee Ji An, a strong-willed single mother who has endured life’s hardships with quiet resilience. Working as a construction site manager and raising her daughter on her own, Ji An begins to waver when her once-dutiful daughter starts to rebel. Just when she believes her life has begun to fade into routine, she crosses paths with an old flame, opening the door to a new beginning. Yum expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “I’m excited to work with such amazing people. I’ll truly cherish my time portraying Lee Ji An.”
Park Hae Jun joins as Ryu Jung Seok, Ji-an’s first love and a reserved architectural designer who lives with his son. His calm life takes a turn when Ji An re-enters his world, challenging his emotional barriers and stirring memories of youthful innocence. Park Hae Jun who has portrayed many iconic characters in works like ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines,’ ‘The World of the Married,’ and ‘My Mister,’ is anticipated to reveal a new side of himself. He shared, “It’s a warm story about people opening up and healing together. I’m excited to work alongside Yum Jung Ah and hope viewers will resonate with our journey.”
Rising actress Choi Yoon Ji will play Lee Hyo Ri, Ji An’s daughter and a former medical student who begins questioning the path she has always followed. In a coastal village far from her old life, she embarks on a personal journey that leads to unexpected encounters.Choi Yoon Ji said, “I’m thrilled and honored to work with such respected actors. I hope to show my gratitude through a strong performance.”
Kim Min Kyu will portray Ryu Bo Hyun, a young flower farmer with a sunny personality and deep-rooted passion for his work. As the son of Ryu Jung Seok , he meets Hyo Ri under unusual circumstances, setting the stage for a fresh and charming youth romance. He shared, “I’m excited to try a genre I’ve always wanted to explore. I’m already looking forward to filming.”
The drama, currently in production, is scheduled to air in the second half of 2025.
With a stellar line-up and a compelling premise, ‘First, for Love’ is anticipated to be a heartwarming addition to tvN’s 2025 drama slate.
