Mark officially makes his solo debut!
On April 7 at 6:00 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), NCT’s Mark made his long-awaited solo debut with his full-length album ‘The Firstfruit’. The album serves as a reflection of Mark’s personal journey, thoughtfully curated in the form of a travel journal. It explores four cities that have shaped his identity: his hometown Toronto, New York, where he first lived, Vancouver, where he spent his school years, and Seoul, the city where he continues to pursue his dream as an artist.
‘The Firstfruit’ features 13 tracks, with ‘1999’ serving as the title track. ‘1999’ is a pop track that creates a light and nostalgic mood with a mix of sounds like grand orchestration, funky guitar, brass instruments, and playful whistle. The music video is vibrant and fast-paced, showing Mark as a time traveler heading back to 1999, matched with fun, eye-catching choreography that adds to the retro feel.
The B-side tracks on the album include ‘Toronto’s Window’, an introduction with narration by Mark and simple guitar, ‘Flight to NYC’, ‘Righteous’, ‘Fraktsiya’ featuring Lee YoungJi, ‘Raincover’, ‘Loser’, ‘Watching TV’ featuring Crush, +82 Pressin’ featuring HAECHAN, ‘200’, ‘Journey Mercies’, ‘Mom’s Interlude’ which includes a piano performance by Mark’s mother and a conversation between them, reflecting her influence on his life and ‘Too Much’, which serves as the album’s final track.
Mark actively participated in every aspect of the album’s production, from selecting the title to writing the lyrics and composing the tracks. His comprehensive involvement ensures that ‘The Firstfruit’ reflects his personal vision, offering fans a deeper connection to his music.
In celebration of the album’s release, Mark hosted a special showcase today at the FB Theater in Seongsu Culture & Arts Yard, Seoul. The event was also streamed live on NCT’s official YouTube channel.
Mark has also been confirmed as part of the lineup for SBS’s ‘INGALIVE UNI-CON’ at Tokyo Dome, where he is scheduled to perform on April 13.
