Super Junior won the ‘Idol Of The Year’ at Ten Asia K-pop Global Top Ten Awards! Congratulations!
The “Top Ten Awards” were held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ten Asia and fans from ten asian countries including Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, etc. took part in the voting which was done online or through mobiles.
Super Junior got around 232,999 votes and won first place. The group ranked in second place throughout the voting period but within the last three days they succeeded in reversing the ranking. Out of the total votes, 125,540 alone were cast from China, proving their status as the “Original Hallyu idols”.
The group also got the maximum votes from Taiwan, thus winning the ‘Popularity Award’ for Taiwan. In addition, high votes from Korea, Japan, Singapore, etc. were cast, showing off the group’s influence.
The award ceremony for “Top Ten Awards” are held online. The award ceremony and acceptance speeches of the winning teams will be released via the official website or through mobile platforms.
On the other hand, Super Junior has had quite an active year in 2018. The group released their repackaged album ‘REPLAY’ in April and a special mini album ‘One More Time’ in October. The members also had their individual and unit schedules with Super Junior D&E releasing their 2nd mini album ‘Bout You’ in August, Yesung releasing a collaboration ‘Whatcha Doin’ with soloist Chungha in December. The entire group also participated in their show SuperTV, releasing two seasons. Ryeowook also kick started 2019 by releasing his solo 2nd mini album ‘Drunk On Love’ on 2nd January, Yesung collaborated with rapper Bumkey and released ‘Carpet’ for SM STATION, and Sungmin starred in musical ‘Around 30’, Siwon will also be starring as a male lead in KBS 2’s drama ‘Dear Citizens’.
The group is expected to make a grand comeback in 2019 once Kyuhyun is back from completing his mandatory military service. Congratulations to the group once again for winning!
