K-Pop group PENTAGON released their 12th mini-album ‘IN:VITE U’, inviting ‘Universe’ to a new world where they redefine and unfold a new definition of love, creating moments which flow naturally as time passes by.
The mini-album contains 6 tracks, each with a unique blend of flavor and spice which depicts a ‘fresh’ and ‘new’ beginning of their journey.
The album begins with the title track “Feelin’ Like” composed by the famous producer Ryan Jhun alongside other popular producers like Kristin Marie, Vegard Hurum, and Jop Pangemanan. Pumping energy into your heart, the powerful R&B song combined with pop is a perfect combination that immediately hooks the listener right from the start. Falling true to the Roman myth of Pygmalion, creator of the statue ‘Galatea’, who fell in love with his own creation, the music video describes the moments of awakening, pleasure and realization by the use of words written by JINHO, KINO, and WOOSEOK as PENTAGON falls in love with their ‘art’.
The touch of delicacy and balance with the vocals adds another beautiful element to their music video. Especially the words ‘Me & You, full Moon. Hold me’ performed by Jinho at a high-pitch, leaves a splendid impact on the listeners. The choreography on the other hand adds another charm to the music video as the members display their sharp moves creating a seductive attraction for the viewers. The strong point of the music video lies in signature choreography after the chorus in which the members move to construe the feeling of their love.
The b-side tracks too live up to their potential. ‘One Shot,’ self-composed and written by members WOOSEOK and SHINWON, caters to the public taste for a unique rock song, stimulating the glamorous hard rock guitar riff. The track seamlessly explores the possibility of moving forward in a fearless manner when there only exists a single shot at whatever one wants to achieve. The track intends to motivate the listener and uplift their spirit providing them with endless power to fight and stride forward.
Moving ahead we encounter ‘The Game,’ an electronic genre song with a glitchy synth and rock sound elements added to it, written and composed by WOOSEOK. The track compares different tense situations in our lives as a game indicating PENTAGON’s relaxed and humorous attitude, no matter the situation. Catchy lines in the chorus parts like ‘Livelier, just run, blow it all’, and operatic elements provide a more mature feeling to the track.
‘Call My Name’ , another track written by KINO and WOOSEOK, sees another collaboration between producer KimZion and KINO. The motif of the track has been taken further from KINO’s previous mixtape song ‘Voicegasm’ to a song that sings the story between the two that has become deeper.
‘Sparkling Night’ a beautiful track written by KINO depicts a Ferris wheel set in a theme park on a beach with millions of stars sweeping through the sky. The track illustrates the dreamy feeling when one has to get off the ride from a Ferris wheel, but isn’t able to step out due to the beautiful scenery and compares this feeling with a phase of relationship which lasts from a meet up to a break up. The serene melody is honey to listeners ears as the chorus just makes one want to dive deep into those emotions.
The last track on the album ‘Bad’ tells the story of a guy who is madly in love with his lover but the situation around him seems to be making it hard for him. And like every considerate lover, the guy wishes for the utmost happiness of his lover even when they part ways. The track written and composed by WOOSEOK is a simple guitar riff with a catchy melody. The minimalist touch creates an environment of comfort and empathy for the listeners going through a hard time.
