The 32nd Hanteo Music Awards (HMA 2024) has officially concluded, marking yet another milestone in K-pop history. Held over two days at the Jangchung Arena in Seoul, the prestigious event brought together artists, industry professionals, and fans from around the world to celebrate the essence of Korean music.
The second day of the awards ceremony, on February 16, featured an electrifying lineup of performances from some of the biggest names in the industry. RIIZE, LIGHTSUM, 8TURN, NCT WISH, Young Tak, YOUNG POSSE, EVNNE, Lee Seung Yoon, YENA, and ballad trio HYB (comprising Huh Gak, Shin Yong Jae, and Onestar) lit up the stage with dynamic performances that left the audience mesmerized. The evening was further enriched by the presence of esteemed presenters, including Kim Yong Jun, Kim Ho Young, Muzie, Soyou, Lee Hee Jin, Insooni, Jang Woo Hyuk, JeA, and Hwangbo, adding a sense of legacy and respect to the event.
Top Winners of the Night
Several artists stood out at HMA 2024, taking home multiple awards. RIIZE had a remarkable evening, securing three prestigious awards: Artist of the Year (Bonsang), The Most Prime Group, and Best Trend Leader. Young Tak, YENA, and NCT WISH also enjoyed double wins, reinforcing their impact on the industry.
(G)I-DLE dominated the night, winning four awards, including Artist of the Year (Bonsang), Global Generation Icon, The Most Prime Solo (awarded to member MINNIE), and the coveted Grand Prize (Daesang) for Best Song. SEVENTEEN also claimed a Daesang for Best Album with their record-breaking release, ‘Spill The Feels’, further solidifying their standing as industry powerhouses.
Beyond the awards, HMA 2024 was an immersive musical experience, with artists delivering unforgettable performances. RIIZE captivated fans with an emotional rendition of ‘Hug’ and later closed the show with a high-energy performance of ‘Boom Boom Bass.’ NCT WISH impressed with ‘Steady,’ while Young Tak had the crowd cheering with ‘SuperSuper.’ Lee Seung Yoon’s commanding performance was also a highlight of the night, proving the diverse appeal of K-pop’s ever-evolving soundscape.
Hanteo’s Vision for K-Pop’s Future
The ceremony was lauded for its well-organized production and accessibility, making it an event that truly celebrated both artists and their fans.
In a statement, CEO Kwak Young Ho emphasized Hanteo Chart’s role as a pillar of Korean music, stating, “The Hanteo Music Awards uphold the history and essence of K-pop. Our goal is to maintain authenticity by ensuring that presenters and recipients are both artists themselves.”
He added, “This year, for the first time in K-pop award show history, we held a pre-event, the Hanteo Music Adventure Night Party, at Lotte World Adventure. Additionally, we designed the ’32nd HMA 2024′ around the concept of ‘Mutopia’ [music and utopia], where artists and fans could share a dynamic and immersive experience. We hope this grand K-pop festival becomes an unforgettable memory, and we will strive to create an even more special experience for next year’s Hanteo Music Awards.”
As the curtains close on the 32nd Hanteo Music Awards, the event has once again proven to be a key player in recognizing and celebrating the ever-growing impact of K-pop on the global stage.
