‘K-POP 5.0’ is upon us, and ChoPD, the iconic producer and artist from the first generation of K-Hip Hop will be the one to lead it. ChoPD played a prominent role for artists like PSY, ZICO, Jung Hyun Lee, Block B, and others.

ChoPD, known as the “pioneer of digital music,” is changing the way K-Pop is perceived in the industry once more and this time together with ChoCo Entertainment. ChoPD is one of the first Korean musicians to go digital, embarking on the path for the future, with his launch through the PC Communication Library in 1998. ChoCo Entertainment will realize ChoPD’s vision for the 5th generation of K-Pop to life, revolutionizing the industry by shifting the paradigms of K-Pop as we know it now.
ChoCo Entertainment announced on April 18,
“ChoPD has long planned and prepared to bring the next generation global K-Pop group ‘ChoCo’ in front of fans worldwide this year.”
ChoPD, the head of ChoCo Entertainment, wants to promote and foster collaboration over rivalry in the market by actively assisting musicians in making the music they desire by introducing an innovative concept of ‘Articon (Artist + Icon)‘ with the MZ & Alpha Generations in mind.

ChoCo Entertainment’s innovative system of artist incubation system with a focus on the ‘harmony of individuality,’ ‘collaboration,’ and ‘growth‘ will cultivate self-directed artists who can create their music and expand their artistic perspectives based on an in-depth knowledge of music, rather than being under pressure from the spirit of standardization, materialism, and elimination that is evident in K-Pop.
In order to facilitate this change, ChoCo will be a ‘timeless icon‘ for the Alpha Generation, becoming a true ‘cosmopolitan group’ that embodies different identities, cultures, genders, and generations. The ChoCo members also aim to further widen their reach by venturing beyond the traditional group and solo activities, exploring new ways of expression that haven’t been discovered yet.
Choco Entertainment described:
“ChoCo combines the new music energy and growth process developed by traveling between Korea and abroad with the sensibility that teenagers hold, completing its unique K-POP style. ChoCo will showcase ‘Glocal’ (Global + Local)’ music that can appeal to global K-POP fans while also gaining popularity in the home of pop, the United States.”
A reality program called “ChoCo in Hollywood” will track the artists’ journey from audition and training to debut. It will also introduce ChoCo Entertainment’s innovative artist incubation method to the public for the first time. “ChoCo in Hollywood” seeks to provide viewers across the world an open look at the development of the ‘K-POP 5.0 icon‘ which will guide the following generation by truly showcasing the human aspect of K-Pop and the natural growth of ChoCo Entertainment artists.
The show will be available in Korean along with a US version. The former will be produced by Sole9 Media and will be made available as the first part of the K-POP 5.0 project in mid-May. The Emmy-nominated star producer JoJo Ryder will produce the US version. Expectations will rise as JoJo Ryder adds a global perspective to the reality format with her more than 22 years of expertise in the industry.
